Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Grounds Associate to work under the Facilities Supervisor at the Star Lake Complex in Bloomingdale, NJ. This is a non-professional, hourly role focused on the care, repair and general maintenance of the grounds, with emphasis on safety and complying with established standards.

You will assist with safety, perform repairs, maintain equipment, clear debris, mulch playground areas, and mow lawns.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of campground maintenance practices including lawns, trees, and trails.
• Familiar with health and safety guidelines and codes.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with on-site safety and security of equipment.
• Implement repairs in response to health and safety violations.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA, ACA, and state health and safety guidelines.
• Maintain equipment per regulations and perform grounds upkeep.
• Clear garbage and dispose properly; keep dump area debris-free.
• Maintain benches, bridges, wood paths, and playground mulching.
• Move picnic tables, benches, and garbage cans as directed.
• Keep roads clear and lawns mowed and trimmed.
• Work 7:00 AM–3:00 PM five days a week; on-call for emergencies.
