Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a field-focused journalist with strong digital video skills to report from the campaign trail in Washington. You will verify information for digital, video, and social content, pitch story ideas, and publish short-form videos shot on mobile devices.

You will deliver live or pre-recorded updates, monitor trends on social platforms, and collaborate with editors to shape cross-platform content in a high-stakes, 24/7 news environment.

Qualifications

3–5 years production experience in news television or digital video journalism.
Some experience covering politics, campaigns or government preferred.
High interest in political news and breaking coverage.
Proven ability to shoot, edit and publish video from a mobile device.
Experience with on-camera reporting and live streaming in breaking news.

Requirements

At least 3-5 years production experience in the news television industry or digital video journalism
Some experience covering politics, campaigns or government strongly preferred
High interest in political news
Demonstrated track record of breaking news and developing strong story ideas independently
Proven ability to shoot, edit and publish short-form video from a mobile device in the field
Experience with on-camera reporting; comfort live streaming in breaking news or evolving news situation
Strong, clear writing that works across formats
Deep familiarity with digital platforms and how political content performs and travels online
Excellent time management and logistics management
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with minimal supervision
Must hold and maintain a valid and active Driver’s License.
Willingness to travel extensively and sustain a demanding embed schedule in a 24/7 news environment
