Job summary

Environment New Hampshire is seeking a Conservation Advocate to protect forests, lakes and parks, bees, butterflies and wildlife, and promote clean energy.

The role involves campaigning, coalition-building, events, volunteer management, fundraising, and engaging decision-makers at state and national levels. Travel and occasional evening/weekend work required; location in Manchester or Concord, NH.

Qualifications

• An advocate or organizer with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Passionate about saving the natural world.
• An effective communicator with excellent writing and public speaking skills.
• A connector and good listener with a track record of bringing people together around a common goal; open-minded and willing to work with people you may disagree with.
• Creative and strategic thinker who can solve complex problems and seize opportunities.
• Well-organized and goal-oriented; accountable and adaptable to new opportunities or challenges.
• Able to travel regularly and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Help shape program priorities: participate in policy development, research and messaging to determine priorities and policy positions.
• Build powerful coalitions: reach out to organizations and constituency groups across the spectrum to build support for our goals.
• Organize events: webinars, community events and public meetings; recruit organizations and members of the public to attend.
• Recruit and work with volunteers: identify and work with volunteers who want to contribute.
• Earn traditional and social media attention: organize media events and write opinion pieces; build a following on social media.
• Advocate: present a compelling case to decision-makers for conservation action through lobbying, testifying at hearings, and producing written materials.
• Fundraise: write grant proposals and raise money from donors to support campaigns.
• Grow our team: identify and recruit strong candidates, hire and manage interns.
