Job summary

Environment America in Portland, OR is hiring an entry-level Plastic Pellet Free Waters Campaign Associate to address plastic pellet pollution and protect waterways and wildlife. You will educate and mobilize the public, build coalitions, organize events with volunteers, and lobby officials to advance our policy goals.

This full-time position includes compensation of $40,000 per year and a strong benefits package, with travel and occasional evening/weekend work expected.

Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• We provide training on advocacy and organizing skills, with oversight from an experienced advocate.
• Candidates must be able to travel regularly and work evenings and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Educate and mobilize public support.
• Build coalitions across a broad range of organizations.

• Organize events and work with volunteers.
• Lobby elected officials from city council to state legislators.
• Research and write reports relevant to policy proposals.
• Recruit volunteers, interns and staff for the campaign.

• Support organizational projects and trainings across campaigns.
