Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists Kitchen Lead in preparation of meals and assumes leadership in Kitchen Lead's absence.
  2. Cleans dining hall and kitchen areas after mealtimes including sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, taking out trash to dumpster, and washing dishes.
  3. Prepares dining hall/kitchen areas for meal services by setting out plates, dishes, glasses, etc.
  4. Cleans and washes out trash cans as specified by Kitchen Lead.
  5. Stocks and maintains cleanliness of all water coolers for staff and camper consumption.
  6. Prepares afternoon and evening snacks for campers.
  7. Keeps hazardous chemicals locked and away from campers and other staff.
  8. Assists with food service trucks deliveries and stocking food and paper supplies.
  9. Participates actively in all required trainings.
  10. Comfortable working with large commercial oven and range, dishwasher, mixer, and other general kitchen equipment.
  11. Follows all Quest policies and procedures as outlined in the Camp Thunderbird Staff Manual.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Experience in cooking, food prep, and meal service prep/clean up preferred.
  3. Ability to work with or previous experience working with large commercial oven and range, dishwasher, mixer, or any further general kitchen equipment.

Physical Demands:

  1. Must be able to lift 50 lbs with or without assistance.
  2. Exposure to weather including extreme heat, humidity, or moisture at times.
  3. Requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  4. Requires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  5. Requires sufficient physical strength to move equipment.
  6. Requires sufficient vision and hearing ability to observe and communicate with customers.
