Job summary

City of Cortez, CO is seeking a part-time, on-site Camp Supervisor to ensure a safe and well-run camp experience for youth and families in Cortez. The role provides oversight for staff and participants and supports consistent program delivery.

You will oversee daily operations, organize lesson plans and schedules, and mentor Camp Counselors while maintaining clear communication with parents and team members. CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain it is required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior day care/childcare supervision experience.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to collaborate well with co-workers, children, and parents.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License.

A Typical Shift

You’ll arrive early to review the day’s plan, confirm attendance details, and set up spaces and materials so activities start on time. As the day moves, you’ll check in with Camp Counselors, adjust schedules for weather or group needs, and keep notes that help the program stay organized. Between activities, you’ll handle quick questions from parents/guardians, update paperwork, and make sure transitions stay calm and predictable. You’ll wrap up by reconciling records, resetting areas for the next session, and flagging any follow-ups for the next shift.
