Title: Camp Host Lead

Summary

The Camp Host Lead is assigned to a selected recreation area (or cluster of smaller areas) within a larger recreation complex. This may include a large campground or day use area, or a cluster of campgrounds and use areas. The Lead Host reports directly to an Operations Manager, and is responsible for personnel management (including training and scheduling), operations, financial accountability, facility maintenance, equipment use and care, tool use, care, and storage within the assigned campground.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversees the general operations within a permitted area; corrects operational deficiencies to comply with Permit, Operating Plan, and Company standards.
  2. Supervises and trains hosts and maintenance personnel, developing effective working relationships.
  3. Conducts training workshops, including new hire orientation and ongoing safety meetings.
  4. Maintains good relationships with employees, governmental agency representatives, and visitors.
  5. Handles visitor complaints and rules violations courteously and effectively.
  6. Troubleshoots and responds to situations within permitted areas.
  7. Suggests improvements to operations.
  8. Performs manual labor and supervises construction and maintenance tasks; assists maintenance staff.
  9. Participates in fee collection, facility and grounds maintenance, and utility testing.
  10. Maintains records of deposits and revenues, and submits reports as needed.
  11. Reports problems and unsafe conditions, enforces rules according to standards.
Requirements
  1. Strong customer service skills and enjoyment of public contact.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Flexibility, adaptability, resilience.
  4. Experience in personnel management and openness to feedback.
  5. Good judgment and common sense.
  6. Manual labor abilities, including cleaning and sanitizing facilities.
  7. Ability to move around the facility for extended periods and lift 20+ lbs.
  8. Administrative skills, including recordkeeping and money handling.
  9. Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and follow instructions.
  10. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
