Job summary

YMCA of the North seeks a Camp Executive Director in Ely, MN to lead high-quality programs for youth, families and adults. You will recruit, train and supervise a diverse staff, set strategic direction, and partner with volunteers to meet fundraising goals while ensuring facilities and equipment are well maintained.

You will live on-site in camp housing during program months, manage budgets, partner with the Board, and oversee risk management and program quality to deliver exceptional

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years of management experience including supervision and budgets.
• Progressive programming and management experience in an outdoor residential environment.
• Willing to live on-site in camp-provided housing during program months and be on-call during programs.
• Demonstrated skills in supervision, organizational systems, fundraising, and financial management.
• Understands and able to develop and implement curriculum.
• Experience in customer service, large and small group communications, leadership, and group work with adults, teens and children.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise camp operating team and support staff.
• Oversee recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of seasonal staff (50+).
• Communicate with program supervisors and staff to reach goals.
• Ensure program quality, risk management, and camper/staff satisfaction.
• Maintain high-quality camping, outdoor education, and retreats.
• Deliver leadership development and social-emotional learning programs.
• Manage camper services, vendor relations, and budgeting decisions.
• Conduct annual performance reviews of staff.
• Develop recruiting and retention strategies for seasonal workforce.
