Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Camp EMT is responsible for providing first aid, supervising medications, and addressing medical concerns for campers and staff during the Summer Day Camp.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Provide medical services to campers and staff following standards from the YMCA, insurance, NYS Department of Health, and the American Camping Association.
  2. Ensure safety for all campers and staff, including personal well-being and assisting with health concerns.
  3. Arrange medical treatment for campers and staff as needed.
  4. Know safety measures and emergency procedures.
  5. Maintain complete records and reports as required by relevant authorities.
  6. Keep an inventory of medical supplies, ensuring they are functional and stocked.
  7. Collaborate with camp directors to review camper records regarding medical, social, and physical needs.
  8. Assist campers needing extra help and communicate with staff and the Camp Director to implement action plans.
  9. Attend pre-camp trainings, meetings, and events.
  10. Handle and record camper issues promptly and professionally, including parent communication.
  11. Support camp field trips requiring extra supervision.
  12. Promote hygiene practices in accordance with CDC guidelines.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college credits preferred.
  • RTE Certification required.
  • Minimum one year of EMT experience, preferably in a summer day camp setting.
  • Current Paramedic or EMT and CPR Professional Rescuers certifications or equivalent required.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
