Job description

Camp will consist of staying overnight in cabin accommodation in Eureka, MO (meals and snacks provided) from 6 p.m. on Friday to 5 p.m. on Sunday the following 2025 - 2026 weekends: August 22nd, September 5th & 26th, October 10th & 24th, November 7th & 21st, December 5th, January 30th, February 20th, March 6th & 27th, April 10th & 24th, and May 1st.

What you will do:
R&R Staff will assist individuals with developmental disabilities (13 years and up) in building positive experiences by exploring recreational opportunities (e.g. arts and crafts, karaoke, hiking, etc.) in a camp setting.
  • Camp Counselor (New staff: $475/weekend; Returnees: $500/weekend) – Develop rapport with campers and provide one-to-one, one-to-two supports as they engage in recreational activities based on their interest and goals. Assisting campers with personal care and daily living skills, such as showering, toileting, changing undergarments, eating, transferring, and communication is an essential aspect of this position.

What we expect of you:
The flexible, enthusiastic individual we see is dependable and compassionate with these qualifications:
  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (some college course work in special education, social work, occupational or recreation therapy, health and/or human services is helpful)
  • One or more years of professional or personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check (i.e. Missouri Family Care Safety Registry)
  • Reliable transportation to and from camp
  • Ability to see, hear, bend, use stairs, lift up to 75 lbs. from floor to shoulder, and walk and/or stand for extended periods of time (6-8 hours)
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English fluently
  • Ability to problem solve and make informed decisions independently, especially during emergencies
  • CPR/FA certification (provided by St. Louis Arc at no cost)
