Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Camp Counselor at the Northeast Cobb YMCA to support camp lead counselors, supervise campers, and deliver engaging activities for youth. This role emphasizes safety, leadership, and making learning enjoyable in outdoor and indoor settings.

You will help implement daily camp tasks, stay current on program practices, and guide children with positive role-model behavior while maintaining certifications and collaborating with YMCA staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a structured setting.
• Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and manage time effectively.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain First Aid/CPR and other required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, safety, leadership, education, and enjoyment for children served by camp.
• Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the role.
• Stay updated on current camp program issues and best practices.
• Promote and ensure camp programs run smoothly with high levels of service.
• Maintain certifications such as CPR and First Aid and assist in YMCA activities.
