Job summary

Salvation Army in Texas is seeking a Per Diem Camp Counselor to supervise and nurture a group of campers, uphold safety, and model Christian values throughout the camp day.

You will lead activities, support worship and devotional duties, and coordinate daily schedules while ensuring timely arrival to cabins and meals. CPR and First Aid certification are preferred, with six months' relevant experience in church youth programs.

Qualifications

• Six months experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and organizes an assigned group of campers during scheduled activities and unscheduled blocks of time, in accordance with camp rules and regulations.
• Promotes and encourages campers' participation to ensure a pleasant camp experience.
• Coordinates and leads youth through their daily schedule, ensuring punctuality and responsibility.
• Keeps cabin clean and ensures bedtime supervision; maintains safety and order in living spaces.
• Provides constant care for campers' needs and maintains camper safety and health standards.
• Maintains an incident report book for each camper and reports serious situations to the Head Counselor.
• Sits with campers during meals and serves as a table monitor when needed.
• Assists in leading camp programs and activities, including rainy-day planning.
