Camp Cooks - $100 Sign On Bonus (Food Services)

We're hiring Camp Cooks for the summer season at several YMCA camps. If you enjoy preparing nutritious meals and want to join a mission-driven team, we encourage you to apply.

Locations include:

  • YMCA Camp St. Croix - Hudson, WI
  • YMCA Camp Ihduhapi - Loretto, MN
  • YMCA Camp du Nord - Ely, MN
  • YMCA Camp Icaghowan - Amery, WI

Position details:

  • Short-term role with availability Sunday through Thursday until August
  • Hourly wage: $16.50 - $20.00, based on experience and background
  • Benefits and earned time off vary by employment status
Job Summary

The Cook prepares healthy meals, maintains food safety standards, and may supervise kitchen staff and dishwashers.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare nutritious meals for participants and groups
  • Assist in menu planning to meet dietary needs
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in kitchen and dining areas
  • Assist with food purchasing and inventory
  • Supervise kitchen staff as needed
  • Practice proper hygiene and food handling
Relationships

This position reports to the Food Service Manager, Executive Director, or Program Director, depending on location. Interacts with participants, staff, volunteers, and the public.

Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum age 18
  • At least one year of food preparation experience
  • Food Safe Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • First Aid and CPR certification upon hire
  • Knowledge of kitchen procedures and food safety
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Desire to work with camp staff and youth
Preferred
  • Education in nutrition
  • Commitment to YMCA's mission and values
Work Conditions
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Stand for extended periods
Additional Notes

This description covers major duties but is not exhaustive. The incumbent will follow directions from camp leadership to support camp success.
