Job summary

Camp Du Nord in Ely, MN is seeking a Camp Cook to support our camp operations. This role delivers quality food service in a rustic summer camp; applicant must be 18+ and obtain ServSafe certification. The position starts at $17.00 hourly and offers benefits and time off that vary by part-time or full-time status.

The Cook will prepare meals, plan menus, and uphold health standards while guiding kitchen staff as needed, ensuring safe food handling and operation in a camp setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18.
• Minimum of one year of experience in food preparation.
• Ability to obtain Food Safe Certification by the county Public Health Department.
• Upon hire, completion of YMCA provided First Aid and CPR certification.
• Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling and storage.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability and desire to work with camp staff and other young people.

Responsibilities

• Prepares healthy and nutritious meals for participants.
• Participates in the planning of menus which meet necessary nutrition and dietary needs.
• Maintains clean and safe kitchen work areas, stockroom, freezer, refrigerator, dining room, dish room and loading dock in accordance with State of Minnesota health regulations.
• Assists with the purchasing and inventory of food supplies as needed.
• Provides work direction to kitchen staff and dishwashers as needed.
• Practices personal hygiene and cleanliness in handling food.
