Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to advance the core camera and ISP technologies within its ISP team in Sunnyvale.

You will develop drivers, design features and optimize power and latency on Apple’s SoCs, collaborating across hardware and software teams with substantial autonomy. You will work on the Image Signal Processing Pipeline, hardware drivers and a multi-thread embedded RTOS environment, contributing to testing, validation and factory support for Apple

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
• 3 years working experience in embedded software development.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and in development of multi-thread software within embedded RTOS systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop low level device drivers for image processing pipeline in embedded systems for the latest SoC blocks, chipsets in Apple.
• Work with high level software clients who are using camera, understanding their requirements, use case, limitation, then design, implement and test our camera software stack.
• Design and implement camera features in embedded systems for Apple products, define features and communication protocols with implementation specs.
• Optimize and improve system performance in terms of power, usage, latency, jitter, etc.
• Work on HW validation and provide software support to factory testing, including features to support hardware testing and diagnosis.

Apple's ISP team is looking for an extraordinary Embedded Software Engineer to drive pioneering technologies for Apple products. As part of the team you will work on core camera and ISP technologies, including Apple crafted Image Signal Processing Pipeline and hardware components, where you will have the chance to define the way that Apple develops, tests and manufactures all of its products. Description

This is a highly multi-functional product development role and you will work closely with various teams such as the Silicon Design/QA team and the machine learning algorithm team. The environment is multifaceted, fast-paced and requires a self-starter demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Develop low level device drivers for sophisticated image processing pipeline in embedded systems for the latest SoC blocks, chipsets in Apple.
• Work with high level software clients who are using camera, understanding their requirement, use case, limitation, then design, implement and test our camera software stack.
• Design and implement camera features in embedded systems for Apple products. You will work with other teams to define features and communication protocols and detail the requirements clearly with implementation specifications.
• Optimize and improve system performance in term of power, usage, latency, jitter, etc.
• Work on HW validation and provide software support to factory testing. You will also implement features to support hardware testing and diagnosis.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields
• 3 years working experience in embedded software development
• Proficiency in C/C++
• Proficiency in the development of multi-thread software within embedded RTOS system

Preferred Qualifications

• A passion for embedded software development
• Familiarity with camera pipeline and video processing
• Familiarity with SoC and H/W layer knowledge such as bring up, hardware driver and firmware development
• Familiarity with memory management and optimization, performance tuning in embedded system

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $142,300 and $263,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
