CAM (Computer Assisted Manufacturing) & Graphics Technician
Holly Springs, North Carolina | Full-time |Exempt | In-person
As a CAM (Computer Assisted Manufacturing) & Graphics Technician you are primarilyresponsible for supporting the efficient operation of the ASI Signage, North Carolina’s graphics, and assembly departments.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and as part of a team to setup prepress files or typeset for manufacturing of interior and exterior signage
- Utilize message schedules from client to prepare typeset files for production.
- Properly setup production files for the graphics department based off drawings provided to manufacturing, applying specific machine characteristics to each production file.
- Ability to understand the graphics production process of making a sign and be able to setup prepress files for output.
- Proof and review completed work and customer supplied elements for 100% accuracy of color, typesetting, grammar, design, etc per customer approved drawings.
- Operate and utilize graphics printers, plotters, laminators, laser cutters, and small CNC routers and understand when to use specific substrates and processes.
- Meets production timelines by:
- Thoroughly reviewing each Job Ticket prior to beginning work
- Asks questions as appropriate for each and every job
- Assist in Quality Control - confirms signage conforms to work order specifications
- Use all required safety equipment and follow procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines along with ASI safety rules and policies
- Adhere to all regulatory compliance guidelines for hazardous waste disposal
- Work overtime and weekends as needed
- Perform other duties as required to successfully meet the needs of the business
- Complies with and supports all ASI safety rules, policies, procedures, and standards
- Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment and procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines
Additional Responsibilities (to be Trained if necessary)
- Performs maintenance and repairs on production equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications
- Set up and operate computerized manufacturing equipment and laminators
- Apply vinyl graphics
- Color match to client specified colors on different substrates
- Safe operation of hand and power tools
- Read and use a tape measure (Add and subtract inches, including fractions)
Qualifications
- 4+ years of sign, sign production, or small/large format print production experience
- Running computer assisted machinery is a plus
- Proven aptitude for working with computers
- Demonstrated ability to work in a very fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Expert attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to quickly identify problems and seek solutions
- Able to communicate effectively and work well with others in a team environment
- Ability to work from specifications, shop orders, drawings, cover sheets, samples, and instructions
Physical Requirements
- PPE is required as follows: Wearing personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, and earplugs, safety Shoes and at times a face mask
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 75 or more pounds on occasion
