Job summary

Smart Folks Inc in Charlotte seeks an experienced Calypso-focused Java/J2EE professional to join our capital markets delivery team. You will work on Calypso platform (v18+), contribute to design, customization, integration, upgrades, and production support, while applying DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of overall technical experience in Java, J2EE, Oracle/Sybase and Unix Shell Scripting.
• At least 2 years solid hands-on Calypso platform experience (v18+).
• Experience with design and development, customization, extension, system integration, upgrade, and production support projects.
• Strong Capital Markets domain knowledge across Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, Derivatives, FX, and Trading Systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical conversations with business teams with minimal support.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, Business Analysts and Testers to clarify requirements.
• Contribute to architecture, design, development, customization, and maintenance of Calypso-based solutions.
• Support environment, build and deployment management, and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with implementing Calypso functionality within Front Office areas, worked on the Pricing, Event Services, Trade Capture, Reg Reporting Modules

Detailed Job Description:

• At least 5 years of overall Technical experience in Java, J2EE, Oracle/Sybase, and Unix Shell Scripting. At least 2 years of solid hands‑on experience on the Calypso platform (version 18 and upwards desired) with prior experience in design and development, customization, extension, system integration, version upgrade and on‑going maintenance and production support projects.
• Sound knowledge of Capital Markets domain having understanding of various financial instruments, including Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, Derivatives, FX Markets and Trading Systems business functions.
• Understanding of technical architecture surrounding the package including integration with different systems & their impact on the solution.
• Agile and DevOps experience, including hands‑on experience on CI/CD tools.
• Understanding & experience of tailoring of methodologies to suit customer/project needs.
• Experience in environment management, build and deployment management.
• Planning and Co-ordination skills.
• Ability to drive conversation with business teams with minimal support from peers.
• Liaise with the Solution Architects, Business Analysts and Testers to ensure they understand the technical requirements of the systems.
