Under the direction of the Caltrans Maintenance Manager II, the Vegetation Management Coordinator (VMC) provides coordination, field oversight, and program support for vegetation management and control activities throughout the district. The incumbent also coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure vegetation management activities, annual PG&E vegetation permit work, and contractor operations comply with applicable environmental, safety, and right-of-way requirements. The position serves as a key liaison between field maintenance crews, contractors, the Vegetation Management Programs, Environmental, Maintenance Managers and Right of Way to ensure vegetation management activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with Department standards.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
