Under the general supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Leadworker or first-line Supervisor, the incumbent will perform duties associated with Culvert Inspections using a Rover Camera unit. This role involves handling and lifting large quantities of 50 lb. bags, and may require work out of town on a per diem basis. The incumbent will also collaborate with other crews on tasks including striping, raised markers, roadway markings, and grinding operations. The position may involve working in stationary freeway lane closures and requires the ability to work overtime, irregular shifts, alternate work schedules, including holidays, weekends, and annual night inspections. The incumbent must be prepared to respond to emergency situations as deemed necessary by the Supervisor.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions), you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
