Caltrans is seeking a CT Equipment Operator II in Madera County to operate heavy equipment and perform labor-intensive highway maintenance and emergency response tasks under supervision.
Required qualifications include a valid California CDL (Class A) with Tank Vehicle endorsement, drug screening, and a valid driver's license. This is a permanent intermittent position with up to 1,500 hours annually and in-office work.

Under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, incumbent must retain a Class A Commercial Drivers License and will operate equipment, construction machinery, vehicles and tools and will perform labor intensive work associated with maintaining the state highway system and during emergency operations.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Permanent, intermittent positions and are not subject to Post and Bid. A permanent, intermittent employee may work up to 1,500 hours in any 12 consecutive months. The number of hours and schedule of work shall be determined based upon the operational needs of each department.
