Job summary

City School is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide a Christ-centered presence in the classroom when regular teachers are absent. You will support Pre-K through 8th grade, following pre-planned lessons and maintaining routines to ensure learning continues with care and joy.

You will supervise students, communicate concerns to staff, and leave handoff notes for the returning teacher. A high school diploma or GED is required, with CPR/First Aid certification preferred or obtainable before start

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in education preferred.
Experience with children in a group setting (ages 3–15).
Active member in good standing at a Christian church.
CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
Flexible, calm, dependable with strong communication and classroom management.

Responsibilities

Follow lesson plans and guide students through planned activities.
Create a structured classroom environment aligned with City School values.
Supervise students and manage behavior with consistency and care.
Communicate student concerns, behavior issues, or absences to staff.
Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth classroom transitions and coverage.
Communicate professionally with colleagues and administrators.
Leave a summary or handoff notes for returning classroom teacher.
Follow schoolwide expectations for conduct, safety, and confidentiality.
