The research group, led by Dr. Miltiadou in the Department of Computer Science, focuses on the intersection of remote sensing, time-series analysis, and machine learning, with applications in forest monitoring, land cover change, and multi-source Earth Observation data integration.
Requirements
– Hold a PhD by the submission deadline.
– Have less than 8 years of postdoctoral research experience.
– Must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the United Kingdom for more than 12 months in the three years prior to the deadline.
– Demonstrated interest or experience in AI, remote sensing, or related fields.
Research Topics Include, But Are Not Limited To
– Identification of forest fire drivers
– Classification of forest types and tree species using satellite data
– Ray-tracing methods for estimating forest canopy gaps
– Correlation of carbon/vegetation models with EO time-series
– UAV flight planning for forestry applications
– Land change detection for UNESCO site protection
The group offers access to in-house tools such as PlotToSat for scalable EO time-series generation and DASOS for LiDAR data harmonisation, as well as strong mentorship for the MSCA PF application process.
Interested candidates are invited to send their CV and arrange a meeting to discuss potential project ideas for the application.
