Job summary

KBR Calibration Technician I is responsible for performing calibration and certification of electronic and physical measuring equipment in-lab or on-site, ensuring traceability to standards and producing documentation per regulations.

Under the lead technician and lab manager, you will support preventative maintenance, calibration recall management, and use IndySoft and Fluke systems to ensure equipment readiness and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma with 2+ years in calibration, or an associate’s degree with 1 year experience.
  • Working knowledge of current, voltage, and resistance; AC/DC calibration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
  • Preferred: experience with IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, Met/Cal systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and certification of electronic and physical/dimensional measuring equipment with traceability to NIST.
  • Calibrate and repair equipment such as pressure devices, timers, ESD mats, ESD wrist straps, workstations, scales and weights.
  • Maintain calibration equipment and standards to required performance levels.
  • Generate reports on calibration conditions, repairs and preventive maintenance with required documentation.

Program Summary

The KBR Metrology team supports Honeywell Aerospace, Otto Instruments, Garrett Advanced Motion, and their suppliers by offering services such as onsite/offsite laboratory visits, test equipment calibration and repair, AMS2750 pyrometry services, metrology engineering, and equipment inspection. Our team ensures that the equipment is maintained to high standards through preventative maintenance, calibration recall system management, automation and programming, and performance tracking dashboards.

Job Summary

Metrology calibration technician I, is responsible for taking care of the day-to-day escalations and priority requests regarding calibration. Technicians will be required to perform the calibrations in-lab or on-site using accredited standards. Calibrations will be performed without automation and require fluency in calibration procedures and hands-on experience with setting up test equipment. This role will report to the lead technician and lab manager.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration and certification of electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment according to technical specifications, ensuring traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
  • Calibrate and repair equipment such as pressure devices, timers, ESD mats, ESD wrist straps, ESD workstations, scales, and weights.
  • Calibrate standards used in calibrations and maintain equipment to established performance standards.
  • Generate reports on the conditions of electronic or instrumentation systems, repairs, and preventive maintenance performed, and prepare necessary documentation as required by federal and departmental regulations.
  • Perform complex configuration and testing of equipment following instructions, blueprints, schematic sketches, and prescribed testing procedures.
  • Utilize common laboratory measuring, calibrating, and test equipment.
  • Adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet special needs as required.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma with 2+ years of experience in the field, OR associate’s degree in engineering technology or a relevant field with 1 year of experience.
  • Working knowledge of current, voltage, and resistance, AC/DC equipment calibration.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, and Met/Cal systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory measurement and calibration equipment.
