Job summary

SP Industries Inc. in Pocomoke City, MD is seeking a Calibration Specialist to perform calibration services on customer-supplied and manufactured products, including thermometers and testing equipment.

The role is first shift, Monday-Thursday, 10-hour days, in a warehouse environment with routine maintenance, documentation, and training responsibilities. You will adhere to quality standards and safety policies while ensuring traceability of calibration results.

Qualifications

  • Previous working experience in a production environment.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Attention to detail with good organizational skills.
  • Proficient math and science skills.
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established procedures to test and adjust measuring instruments against reference standards.
  • Record calibration results and document findings in reports.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting instrument accuracy.
  • Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on calibration equipment.

Calibration Specialist

SP Industries Inc. is hiring for our team in Pocomoke City, MD and has an immediate opening for a Calibration Specialist. In this role, the right candidate will perform calibration services for customer supplied products and/or manufactured products, such as thermometers or testing new incoming products for quality compliance.

This is a 1st shift position with a Monday - Thursday on a 10-hour day schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Following established procedures to test and adjust measuring instruments like gauges, meters, scales, and other specialized equipment against known reference standards to include equipment specifications.
  • Recording calibration results, identifying deviations from standards, and documenting findings in detailed reports.
  • Identifying and resolving issues affecting instrument accuracy, including potential malfunctions or environmental factors.
  • Performing routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on calibration equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Adhering to industry regulations and quality standards related to calibration practices.
  • Maintaining accurate calibration records and documentation for traceability purposes.
  • Providing training to other personnel on proper usage and care of calibrated equipment.
  • Calibration equipment such as AC bridge, RTDs, probes, surface temperature testers, dry block, hydrometers, liquid in glass thermometers, test liquids, test baths, customer supplied product, manufactured products, written specifications and catalogs, Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) and quantity testing tables.
EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION
  • Previous working experience in a production environment.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Attention to detail with good organizational skills.
  • Proficient math and science skills.
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work is normally performed in warehouse environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and is frequently required to stand, bend, stoop, reach and climb stepstools; use both hands; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in 60-degree temperatures, lab is temperature and humidity controlled during calibration.

  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks

  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
