Job summary

Medtronic in Eatontown, NJ is seeking a Calibration / Metrology Technician II to ensure accuracy and reliability of life-saving medical devices. The role involves calibration, troubleshooting, and maintaining regulatory readiness across the site.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Facilities teams, maintain calibration records, and support continuous improvement while adhering to FDA/ISO standards. This is a fully onsite, first-shift position.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant calibration/metrology experience.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of calibration principles and measurement systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic/electromechanical instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair precision equipment.
  • Perform calibrations per procedures, specs, and standards.
  • Set up and execute calibration methods and test procedures.
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace faulty components.
  • Troubleshoot issues to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain calibration records for FDA/ISO and internal quality.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Facilities teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of calibration processes and performance.
  • Monitor equipment using SPC and other quality methods.
  • Work on a rotational on-call schedule roughly every 6 weeks.

A Day in the Life

At Medtronic, precision matters. As a Calibration / Metrology Technician II, you will help ensure the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of the instrumentation that supports the manufacturing of life‑saving medical technologies. In this role, you'll perform equipment calibration and troubleshooting while helping maintain regulatory compliance and audit readiness across the site.

This is a fully onsite position (1st shift) based in Eatontown, NJ
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned
  • Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, optical, pressure, temperature and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Perform calibrations in accordance with established procedures, engineering specifications, and calibration standards.
  • Set up and execute calibration methods, sequences, and test procedures.
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace defective components on calibration and test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation to support FDA, ISO, and internal quality requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Facilities teams to resolve equipment issues and maintain audit readiness.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance calibration processes, equipment performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and verify equipment performance using statistical process control and other quality methods, as appropriate.
  • Able to work a rotational on‑call schedule as needed based on business need, roughly once every 6 weeks.
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of calibration, metrology, instrumentation, or related technical experience.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or similar).
  • Knowledge of calibration principles, metrology, and measurement systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic and electromechanical instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with calibration management systems and quality documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R.

  • 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$51,200.00 - $76,800.00

This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long‑term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well‑being program).
