Qualifications

• Must have basic math grounding and be comfortable working in automated environments.
• Ability to work on an on-call basis.
• Cannot have a fear of heights; able to climb ladders and stairs for shore tanks.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable driving record; TWIC is required or obtainable.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; detail-oriented and able to prioritize.
• Willingness to travel as business needs dictate.
• Minimum 1 year petroleum inspection experience; knowledge of refinery operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform volume and temperature measurements and sampling of commodities.
• Conduct visual inspections on lines, tanks, cars, and vessels.
• Complete custody transfer surveys for commodities transferred.
• Carry out routine equipment calibrations and verifications.
• Document results accurately and ensure traceability of information.
• Coordinate with terminal and company personnel to ensure timely service delivery.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and equipment.

What are we looking for?

Through guidance provided by Branch Management, and in a safe, legal, and ethical manner, the Inspector performs the necessary volume measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting which ensure that the customer receives an independent, accurate, and complete assessment of quantity and quality of material, thus supporting the goal of providing a service to our clients that is accurate, timely and cost-effective

Shift/Schedule: varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and on call hours

What you’ll do:

• Understand and adhere to Caleb Brett's safety procedures


• Able to perform the below duties by specified methodology in addition to completing the associated paperwork


• Volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials contained or conveyed in lines, shore tanks, cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships


• Visual inspections on lines, pumps, manifolds, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships


• Complete custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred to and from rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks, barges, and ships


• Perform routine equipment calibrations, verification, and function checks


• Verify and communicate the results obtained and make the entries into the appropriate media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information


• Provide on-the-job assistance and receive training from more experienced inspectors


• To communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and Company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties assigned


• To monitor the availability of the supplies needed for the above processes, and to make any needs for such supplies known to the Dispatcher or Coordinator


• To perform routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks


• To organize and coordinate jobs so that services are rendered, and reports and samples are submitted in a timely manner


• To maintain work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional condition


• Willingness to go offshore via boat launch and have ability to climb pilot ladder to inspect vessels

• Attention to detail, self-motivated, good time management skills, and prioritization skills

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Having IFIA certification is a plus! If not certified, must be able to pass the exam to obtain certification at 6 months of employment
