Job Description: Bakery Decorator at Weis Markets

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain the bakery department, keeping it well-stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Greet customers with a smile, assist with product suggestions, answer questions about products and cake preparation, and resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously. Take customer orders over the phone or in person, determine customer preferences, and create finished decorated products in a timely manner.
2. Decorate cakes and bakery products using dyes, specific or custom designs, and create decorative effects. Use various creams, frostings, and fillings with consistent results, and make icing according to company recipes.
3. Trim and cut cakes to required shapes and sizes, spread icing between layers and on surfaces, and tint icing to desired colors.
4. Assist in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area, adhering to production logs. Create cakes and pastries for sale, follow rotation and markdown policies, and help maintain inventory levels through proper ordering and logging.
5. Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries, if trained. Training will be provided.
6. Assist with cardboard baling or related duties if trained. Training will be provided.
7. Maintain sanitation in the department by following cleaning schedules and guidelines to ensure a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant work environment. Properly dispose of trash.
8. Ensure smooth department and store operations by cooperating with coworkers and supervisors. Continuously seek to improve job performance.
9. Utilize all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
10. Assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required. 1-2 years of decorating experience preferred. Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with or without accommodations.
