Job summary

Edwards Food Giant & Edwards Cash Saver is seeking a skilled Cake Decorator to create beautiful, high-quality cakes and pastries in our bakery. You will decorate, portion, and package desserts while upholding food safety and sanitation standards and delivering excellent customer service.

You’ll work as part of a busy team, handle custom orders (wedding cakes, specialty designs), and help train new colleagues.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Previous Cake Decorator or bakery/foodservice experience.
• Strong knowledge of cake decorating techniques and an eye for detail.
• Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math tasks.
• Knowledge of federal food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to work well with others as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
• Creativity and the ability to design unique and custom cakes for customers.
• A passion for serving customers and creating beautiful, high-quality products.

Responsibilities

• Provide premier customer service by greeting customers and answering their questions in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.
• Ice, decorate, and maintain cakes and other sweet treats in the bakery, ensuring products are stored in freezers and refrigerated showcases as needed.
• Fill customer special orders, including custom cakes, wedding cakes, and other personalized products.
• Ice, decorate, package, label, and price products for production and backstock fulfillment.
• Assist customers in making product-related decisions by providing helpful information about the cakes and treats available.
• Operate bakery equipment, including ovens, mixers, sinks, and other tools necessary for cake decoration.
• Follow Edwards Food Giant’s guidelines for cake decorating, ensuring products meet the company’s standards for freshness, sanitation, and safety.
• Adhere to federal food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring that all products are made and handled with care.
• Organize and rotate stock in the decorator’s freezer to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Assist in training new associates in cake decorating as needed.
• Assist in the Deli department as needed, ensuring cross-departmental support when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

General Purpose:

To create beautifully decorated cakes and sweet treats, ensuring they meet Edwards Food Giant’s high standards of quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction. Requirements

Job Requirements:

Work Conditions:

• Cake Decorators primarily work in the bakery but may be required to assist in the deli as needed.
• Work involves exposure to various temperature changes, including working in freezers and refrigerated areas.
• The role involves walking, standing, bending, and lifting products weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Duties also require repetitive arm and hand movements and hand-squeezing for at least 85% of the workday.
