Job Summary

Our Cake Decorator is a key player in ensuring our pastries look and taste amazing. In addition to providing excellent guest service, you will create beautiful and delicious art for our guests and provide the sweets that will be the hit of their parties. As a Team Member, you'll be part of a team focused on building lifelong relationships with our customers by understanding and exceeding their needs. Your primary responsibility will be preparing and decorating products and cakes to ensure only the freshest are available. To succeed, you should be a team player, eager to support your team, driven to grow into leadership, and able to inspire others. Creativity, passion for food, and a desire to connect with people are essential to this role.

Job Description

• Experience Required: Successful completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months experience or completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required.
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds.
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age.

Job Responsibilities

• Fill tables and cases with cakes, transporting products from the prep area to the sales area.
• Follow procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Take special orders over the phone and in person.
• Maintain product quality by checking sales areas for freshness and condition.
• Record daily known loss.
• Prioritize safety for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service, assist guests in locating products, answer questions, and make suggestions.
• Inspire team members and guests with passion for food and commitment to quality.
• Handle products and equipment according to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, utensils, and work areas.
• Prepare and decorate products for display, ensuring proper rotation and freshness.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and housekeeping standards.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Follow department procedures, including product rotation, order taking, and seasonal updates.
• Stay updated on new products and procedures.
• Ice and decorate cakes using icing and decorating tools.
• Prepare icing and other decorated items per recipes.
• Assist with unloading deliveries to maintain backroom and cooler efficiency.
• Operate equipment like mixers, scales, airbrush guns, and knives safely.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
