Job summary

Charles River Insourcing Solutions in Collegeville, PA seeks an experienced Cagewash Technician II to support vivarium operations and ensure high standards of animal care while maintaining efficiency. You will independently perform cagewash and sanitation activities, following SOPs and audit requirements.

Responsibilities include operating cagewash systems, inspecting equipment, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with inventory management and animal care technician support.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year cagewash experience in a laboratory animal facility.
  • Experience handling chemicals, detergents, and disinfectants safely.
  • Experience with receiving and inventory-related responsibilities.
  • AALAS ALAT certification or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cagewash and sanitation duties per SOPs and audits.
  • Operate cagewash systems, including detergents and wash parameters.
  • Inspect sanitized equipment and correct minor deviations.
  • Troubleshoot routine equipment issues and temperature concerns.
  • Support inventory management, receiving and stocking processes.
  • Document, label, and store materials per compliance.
  • Assist Animal Care Technicians with cage prep and transport.
  • Identify safety and compliance risks and suggest improvements.
  • Assist with onboarding and training as assigned.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and adherence to schedule.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cagewash Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Collegeville, PA.

As the Cagewash Technician II, support vivarium operations by independently performing cagewash and sanitation activities while maintaining high standards of animal care support, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities Include
  • Perform cagewash and sanitation duties accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with SOPs and audit requirements.
  • Operate cagewash systems proficiently, including proper use of detergents, disinfectants, and wash parameters.
  • Inspect sanitized equipment and identify or correct minor process deviations.
  • Troubleshoot routine equipment issues, including incomplete cycles, loading concerns, and temperature inconsistencies.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and elevate complex equipment concerns when necessary.
  • Support accurate inventory management through following the receiving, stocking, storage processes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, labeling, and storage compliance.
  • Assist Animal Care Technicians with cage preparation, staging, and transportation of animals or materials as appropriate.
  • Promote workflow efficiency by prioritizing high-volume and time-sensitive sanitation needs.
  • Identify safety concerns, compliance risks, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Support onboarding and training activities as assigned.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and adherence to scheduled work hours.
Job Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must have the following education/experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of cagewash experience within a laboratory animal facility; experience handling chemicals, detergents, and disinfectants safely; experience with receiving and inventory-related responsibilities.

Certification/Licensure: Evidence of achievement of AALAS certification at the ALAT level or above preferred.

The pay range for this position is $23 to $25.50 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
