Job summary

Sylvania Schools is seeking a Cafeteria Worker to support daily lunch operations and special events. The role requires basic computer use, adherence to health and safety standards, and bylaw compliance with district policies.

You will assist with food preparation, serving, and maintaining clean food service areas. Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and an Ohio Person In Charge of Food Protection certificate.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated employment history.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Knowledge of operating computers and programs.
• Ohio PIC (Person In Charge of Food Protection) certificate required.
• Must complete training per Sylvania Schools / Ohio Dept of Education.

Responsibilities

• Report to cafeteria coordinator for daily assignment.
• Serve food at lunch line or during functions.
• Set up and replenish food and supplies on serving line.
• Clean counters, equipment, and work areas.
• Cook short-order items and assist with basic food prep.
• Operate kitchen equipment and maintain proper temperatures.
• Learn and use Mosaic Food Service Software.
• Follow sanitation practices per Ohio Health Dept (ServSafe and HACCP).
• Collaborate with staff and students harmoniously.
• Adhere to dress and conduct standards for food services.
• May assist with washing dishes or other cafeteria tasks such as cashiering, inventory, stocking.

Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:

4. Have knowledge and understanding of how to operate computers and programs.
5. Valid Ohio Person In Charge of Food Protection Certificate is required.
6. Must complete all training as required by Sylvania Schools and/or the Ohio Department of Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Report to cafeteria coordinator for daily assignment.
2. Serve food at a cafeteria lunch line and/or special function.
3. Set up food for serving and replenish food and supplies on cafeteria serving line.
4. Clean counters, equipment, and general work areas.
5. Cook short-order items on a serving line and perform simple food preparation.
6. Knowledge of kitchen equipment use such as steamer, slicer, and ovens, along with proper serving and holding temperatures.
7. Learn and operate Mosaic Food Service Software.
8. Observe sanitation practices designated by the Health Department of the State of Ohio (ServSafe and HACCP).
9. Work harmoniously with staff and students.
10. Follow good Food Services practices pertaining to dress and conduct.
11. May be asked to assist with washing dishes and pots and pans, and any segment of the cafeteria operation such as assisting with food preparation, cashier, or any phase of the clean-up operation, inventory, and stocking supplies.
12. Responsible to enter personal absences on Red Rover and Time Clock Plus, and to communicate same-day absences to the Food Services Director or Human Resources.
13. Responsible to check your district email account on a regular basis, and to communicate as needed via email.
14. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as necessary to assure the successful operation of the cafeteria.
