Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is seeking an entry to mid-level food service team member to support dining services and patient care scores. You will handle prep, serving, cashiering, and safety compliance while delivering quality customer service.

Responsibilities include operating the CBORD POS MICROS system, following established workflows, and maintaining temperatures and sanitation standards. Prior food service experience is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is recommended.

  • Follow health inspector and state sanitizing techniques and procedures.
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision and according to workflow procedures.

Job description

Job Duties
  • Demonstrate knowledge and support of patient improvement scores.
  • Articulate Press Ganey scores.
  • Perform tasks of prepping, cleaning, cashiering, and serving to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor quality of food products and service, including temperatures, and take corrective action when needed.
  • Proficiently operate equipment, demonstrate portion control, and meet regulatory agency requirements.
  • Accurately charge visitors, volunteers, and employees using the CBORD POS MICROS system and stay updated on policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with staff in other areas using face‑to‑face, Vocera, phone, and other means.
  • Perform proper phone etiquette by using Mercy's phone answer scripter.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of health inspector and state sanitizing techniques and procedures.
  • Follow instruction and daily workflow procedures set by manager, supervisor, or lead.
  • Perform job duties independently without constant supervision or guidance.
  • Problem‑solve if food or item substitution is needed.
  • Prioritize tasks to be ready for meal service at specified time.
  • Monitor food and refrigerator temperatures and report deficiencies.
  • Perform excellent communication and customer satisfaction skills with all visitors, employees, and volunteers.
  • Follow Mercy's safety guidelines, carry out job‑specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly report any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents, and injuries.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Utilize dietary guidelines for service.

Professional Experience
