Lafayette School Corporation is seeking a Cafeteria/Recess Supervisor at Oakland Elementary School. The role runs Monday through Friday, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm when school is in session, totaling 10 hours per week.

The position pays $13.88 per hour and involves supervising students during lunch and recess to ensure safety and orderly conduct. The supervisor reports to the Building Principal or designee and works to maintain a positive, safe lunch environment in partnership with school staff.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must maintain a professional attitude and language.
• 95% work attendance required unless excused from school.
• Dress appropriately as a role model.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Line students up to enter the lunch line and escort to cafeteria.
• Circulate in the lunch room to supervise and monitor behavior.
• Monitor student behavior and take corrective action when needed.
• Clean spills and pick up trash in the lunchroom; use mop and broom as needed.
• Take students to play area and return to classroom after lunch.
• Know and enforce lunch, playground, hallway and restroom rules.
• Communicate behavior with building administration and teachers.
• Avoid punitive discipline methods.
• Know and implement emergency procedures.
• Teach good manners and etiquette.
• Encourage hand washing before eating and after restroom use.
• Follow guidelines of the school lunch program as directed by the provider.
