Job summary

Newton Public Schools - District Wide in Newton, MA is seeking a Lunch Monitor to supervise students during lunch and recess and assist the Lead Food Service Worker with daily cafeteria operations.

The role requires attention to safety, adherence to lunch program regulations, good communication, and the ability to work up to 2.5 hours per day, 4 days per week. This is a part-time, on-site position with a pay rate of $18 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising students.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Knowledge of federal/state lunch program rules.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation.
• Able to use a POS system and basic computer tasks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee up to 20+ students during lunch/recess.
• Maintain order and safety during meal service.
• Assist with set up, replenishment, and cleanup of buffet lines.
• Ring lunch cards through the POS system and assist with checkout.
• Communicate professionally with students, staff and supervisor.
• Ensure cafeteria cleanliness and proper allergen seating.
• Supervise students walking to/from classrooms and outdoor recess.
• Attend training sessions and complete required duties as assigned.
