Job summary

Community Consolidated School District 146 is seeking a Food Service Assistant to prepare and serve quality meals to students in a quick and pleasant manner. The role supports daily kitchen operations within a school setting.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and some experience with large-scale cooking and food preparation. The position includes inventory tasks, cash handling, and operating kitchen equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of food service accounting activities such as balances, deposits, count sheets, and damaged item reports.
• Orders food and materials and maintains and conducts inventories.
• Endorses checks and makes bank deposits.
• Operates a computer and related software.
• Operates a variety of food preparation and service equipment.
• Performs daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met.
• Maintains order and safety in the kitchen and cafeteria.
• Sets up & breaks down serving lines (salad bar, hot food, ala carte etc.).
• Counts money, completes related reports.
• Receives cash and checks for meals.
• Controls distribution of debit cards.
• Work hours are not to exceed 1000hours per school year.
• Performs related duties as required.
