Job summary

Stmarysdixon is seeking a part-time kitchen supervisor to prepare daily lunches for students and staff, purchase food and supplies, and manage inventory. The role requires ensuring compliance with state regulations and maintaining proper safety practices in a school kitchen.

The position runs 7:30am-1:00pm, five days per week when school is in session, with benefits for part-time staff and pay in the $16–$18 per hour range.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and type a monthly menu and ensure it complies with state regulations.
  • Prepare daily lunches for students and staff.
  • Purchase food and supplies and maintain accurate inventories.
  • Monitor temperatures and safe handling of food by volunteers.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment integrity.
  • Follow Lee County Health Dept. and State guidelines and keep certifications up to date.

Description

Rate of pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Part-Time: 7:30am-1:00pm; 5 days per week; when school is in session.

Reports to: Principal and Business Manager

General Duties

Prepare and type a monthly menu. Ensure the menu complies with State regulations. Forward the menu to the school staff for publication on the website.

Prepare daily lunches for students and staff.

Purchase food and supplies.

Keep an accurate inventory of all supplies and date food items according to state requirements.

Maintain daily and annual records necessary for State compliance.

Manage the kitchen:

Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures daily.

Monitor portion control when volunteers are serving.

Monitor the safe handling of food by volunteers and assistant cooks.

Maintain the cleanliness and integrity of the kitchen and appliances.

Work within the guidelines of the Lee County Health Department and the State Department.

Keep certification up to date.

Complete Civil Rights Compliance training and provide staff with training support.

Attend any required meetings.

Requirements

Work well with volunteer parents, staff, and students.

Understand and follow specific instructions and procedures, including safety procedures.

Completes annual training hours per State Requirements.

Qualifications

Candidate must have a current Food Handlers License or obtain one before August 17th. Time management skills and organizational skills. Prior experience in food service or a related field is preferred.
