Job summary

Coastal Alabama Community College is seeking a Cafeteria Cook to prepare meals and manage kitchen operations in line with all food service sanitation procedures. Salary is prorated according to the Alabama Community College System 10-month schedule E3 04.

Responsibilities include planning menus, cooking to dietary and portion requirements, maintaining cleanliness, inventory, and records, and assisting training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Working knowledge of food service operations.
• Food service operations experience.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Ability to think quickly, clearly, and analytically when confronted with a problem.

Responsibilities

• Plans menus.
• Cooks food according to menus and portions.
• Cleans and inspects equipment and work areas for cleanliness and operation.
• Compiles and maintains records of food use and expenditures.
• Requisitions food supplies and equipment; takes inventory.
• Monitors menus and spending to ensure economical meals.
• Performs kitchen setup responsibilities per sanitary procedures.
• Prepares for the next day’s shift per preparation procedures.
• Helps other cafeteria staff as needed.
• Performs weekly cleaning tasks.
• Assists with training new employees.
