Job summary

Wake County Public School System (CNS) is seeking a Cashier/Assistant in the Child Nutrition Services department to prepare, cook and serve meals and a la carte items according to recipes.

The role includes cashier duties, handling money, recording meal counts and deposits, and maintaining clean, sanitary kitchen areas in a school cafeteria environment. High school diploma required; ServSafe certification within 90 days is preferred; Monday-Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ServSafe certification within 90 days or able to obtain it.
• Experience in food service and/or cashiering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals, salads and a la-carte items following standardized recipes.
• Serve as a cashier, collect money and record meals and deposits via POS system.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining and serving areas in compliance with sanitation codes.
• Follow policies in the CNS Handbook and ensure accurate meal counts and fees.
• Provide effective customer service to students, parents, and staff; communicate clearly.
