Job summary

Grand Central Bakery is seeking a Café Team Member in Seattle to join a welcoming, fast-paced cafe environment. You will provide outstanding customer service, handle cash with accuracy, and operate multiple stations as needed.

The role supports a strong team culture and emphasizes food safety and adherence to company values. Responsibilities include working across shifts, using POS systems, and maintaining cleanliness while engaging with customers about products and specials.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English is required.
  • Maintains a valid Food Handler’s Card at all times and follows health department guidelines at all times.
  • Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled days and being on time.
  • Ability to add, subtract, and perform basic math with ease is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability to interact with customers for a full shift in a busy, loud environment with frequent change while maintaining outstanding customer service is required.
  • Food service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers outstanding customer service, follows the 3 Steps to Great Service at all times, shares knowledge about product sourcing, and demonstrates enthusiasm for Grand Central Bakery’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Works at all stations and shifts for which they are trained, completing assigned work efficiently and accurately.
  • Uses resources such as checklists and training documents to complete work accurately and proficiently.
  • Proficient with GCB systems including POS, R365, and KDS, utilizing training documents and how-to guides to complete work accurately and efficiently.
  • Adheres to proper POS and cash handling procedures with a high level of accuracy.
  • Makes and serves all café products to GCB specifications, identifies products that do not meet specifications, and removes them from sale.
  • Demonstrates a proactive, “pitches in” mentality by volunteering to help others, taking initiative, contributing ideas, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Demonstrates self‑awareness by reflecting on strengths and areas for growth, actively seeking feedback, and engaging in continuous learning to improve performance and develop new skills.
  • Works in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Grand Central Bakery in all aspects of the job.
  • Works collaboratively with a team and communicates respectfully and professionally with teammates.

Job Summary

The Café Team Member is integral to the efficient, enthusiastic team that makes Grand Central Bakery’s vibrant cafes welcoming. Passionate about supporting a welcoming café environment and serving delicious products, they deliver outstanding customer service, follow the 3 Steps to Great Service at all times, and can work any shift or station for which they are trained. They use company systems proficiently, handle cash accurately, and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative atmosphere in support of Grand Central Bakery’s mission, vision, and values.

Rate of Pay

$22.05 plus tips. Tips average $7.00 - $9.00 per hour.

Supervision

This position reports to the Café Manager.

Schedule Requirements

Schedule flexibility, including days of the week and time of day, is required. Ability to work any shift or station for which they are trained.

Remote Work

This position is not eligible for remote work.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Goes the extra mile by delivering food, engaging about products and specials, and anticipating customer needs while maintaining composure during busy or uncertain situations.
  • Works at all stations and shifts for which they are trained, completing assigned work efficiently and accurately. Shifts include retail opening, retail closing, sandwich bar opening, pastry baking, baking prep., and mid-shifts.
  • Uses resources such as checklists and training documents to complete work accurately and proficiently.
  • Proficient with GCB systems including POS, R365, and KDS, utilizing training documents and how-to guides to complete work accurately and efficiently.
  • Adheres to proper POS and cash handling procedures with a high level of accuracy.
  • Makes and serves all café products to GCB specifications, identifies products that do not meet specifications, and removes them from sale.
