Job summary

UCAR is seeking an Assistant Chef for the Mesa Lab Cafe to oversee kitchen operations in the Chef’s absence and assist with food preparation and inventory. The role may include cashier duties and leading daily cafe operations, especially during special events.

Candidates should have at least 3 years in food service and be capable of working evenings or weekends for events. On-site work with standard kitchen equipment and cash handling expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; and at least 3 years' experience in food service industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all food items for soup or lunch selections and assists Cook in preparation of other items.
• May assist in salad preparation or front-line production; ensures variety, wholesomeness and quality.
• Maintains accurate daily cash deposits and records; prepares monthly reconciliation.
• Leads special events; sets up refreshment breaks and coordinates deliveries.
