Job summary

Midtown Athletic Clubs in Rochester, NY, is seeking an Assistant Food and Beverage Manager to oversee our Chromium café and the food & beverage department. The role is on-site, full-time, five days per week with weekend shifts, requiring 8–10 hour active days.

You will lead recruitment, scheduling, and staff development, ensuring safety, quality service, and budget adherence while fostering a guest-first culture and strong team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of management experience in a high-volume café or quick-service environment.
• Passion for food, hospitality, and delivering a positive impact on guests' experiences.
• Strong guest service mindset with a collaborative, "lead by example" approach.

• Reliable and accountable with a high level of professionalism.
• Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and spreadsheets).
• Ability to read, interpret, and communicate operational documents (e.g., safety guidelines, procedures, recipes) and present information clearly to team members and guests.
• Ability to stand and remain active for extended shifts (8-10 hours), including walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and occasional climbing or balancing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee recruitment, training, and morale for all staff in the F&B department.
• Create and manage weekly staff schedules.
• Supervise staff safety and cleanliness per Health Department regulations.
• Assist budgeting, inventory, payroll, and other financial matters.
• Monitor restaurant sales and labor costs to meet goals.
• Interact with members to ensure dining satisfaction and build relationships.
• Maintain service standards and respond promptly to member inquiries.
