Job Objective: Under the management of the Dietary Supervisor, performs work requiring a high degree of accuracy in collecting revenue for transactions entered on cash register. Verifies cash bank at beginning of each shift; notifies Manager of any variances. Enters accurate information neatly on Cashier's Work Sheet; responsible for ensuring that cash revenue/bank is properly secured at all times. Cleans tables, equipment, and windows daily; closely monitors sales area and restocks supplies as needed. Maintains a high standard of sanitation in the working area. The cashier collaborates with department staff to provide optimal environmental services to patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring their well-being. Performs any other related tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities include:

• Verifying cash bank at the start of each shift with the Supervisor.
• Setting up the cash register with the cash bank, refilling register tape, and operating the register accurately during the shift.
• Counting end-of-shift revenue, verifying with the Supervisor, and securing it in a sealed envelope in the safe.
• Completing cashier worksheets accurately and obtaining supervisor initials.
• Handling over rings, refunds, and attaching receipts to appropriate forms for reimbursement.
• Maintaining cleanliness and order in the cafeteria and serving areas, including restocking supplies and cleaning equipment.
• Assisting with food and beverage service, including setting up dessert bars and monitoring salad bars.
• Providing excellent customer service in a positive and cheerful manner.
• Handling sanitation, safety, and HACCP guidelines diligently.

Additional duties: Assisting in other areas as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of kitchen equipment, food handling, and storage.
• Basic math skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good judgment and reliability.
• Ability to operate a computerized register system effectively.
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, understanding).

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma preferred.
• Prior cashier experience preferred.

Licensure/Certifications: None required.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Active cafeteria environment, standing/walking for entire shift, lifting up to 25 lbs, occasional pushing/pulling, bending, squatting, and reaching. Detailed physical requirements are maintained in the Employee Health Department.
