Job summary

Encore Village of Schaumburg is seeking a part-time Cafe/Bistro Associate in the Dining Department. You will take orders, stock counters, greet guests, and deliver meals with friendly, professional service. Responsibilities

• Stock area with items and paperwork for pars; maintain knowledge of items.

• Ensure sanitation, clean floors, and maintain storage areas.
• Attend pre-shift meetings and follow service standards.

Encore Village of Schaumburg is currently hiring for a part time Cafe/Bistro Associate in our Dining Department.

Job Duties Include:

• Stocks area with appropriate par levels of all items and complete appropriate paperwork for said pars.

• Responsible for stocking the area with proper smallware's/condiments, etc.

• Maintains full knowledge of all items available at the outlet.

• Reports to work on time and in proper uniform.

• Meets and greets guests with a friendly and professional manner in accordance to set standards.

• Communicates with residents, guests, and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner.

• Responsible for sweeping & mopping the floor in assigned areas.

• Reports to daily pre-shift meetings for review of the day's activities, groups in house and menus.

• Will maintain personal appearance & hygiene in accordance to set policy & procedures.

• Assigned daily shift duties are to be thoroughly completed and then inspected by the shift manager at the close of each shift.

• Tables are to be bussed and sanitized in accordance with set policy & procedures.

• Converses with guests and remembers to use the names of repeat guests.

• Moves quickly with good balance.

• Takes food orders with a smile in person/over the phone or via company provided software.

• Assists in completing/delivering orders.

• Proficient in cash register use/handling moneys and credit card machines.

• Able to utilize company provided POS system.

• Participates in proper sanitation and food handler procedures.

• Maintains full knowledge of service standards.

• Reports any maintenance problems or other problem areas to designated leader.

• Removes refuse in accordance with set standards.

• Follows proper sanitation and food handling procdures.

• Maintains the cleanliness of the stoarge areas, tools, equipment, carts and other areas/items as directed by Supervisor or Manager on duty.

• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager.

• Tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.

Experience and Education:

• Previous cafe/bistro/food service experience preferred

• Any related customer service-oriented experience may be considered

• High school or GED preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Good communication skills; must be able to demonstrate effective reading, writing and speaking and analytial skills

• Must be detail-oriented person and be able to perform duties with great accuracy each day

• Must demonstrate computer proficiency skills

• Must be able to work overtime, holidays and weekends as assigned

• Must be able to interface with people at all levels and with residents in a positive and professional manner

• Full understanding of sanitation, food borne illness, and cross-contamination policies and procedures

• Full understanding of cleaning chemicals and other hazardous materials

• Awareness of right-to-know issues

• Full understanding and us of H.A.C.C.P. protocols

• Full understanding of residents' rights

• Full understanding of departmental policies and procedures

• Training in CPR and Heimlich maneuver
