The Scott Family Amazeum is seeking a part-time Café Associate to support daily café operations at Headwaters Café. You will provide warm guest service, take orders, prepare items, and maintain a clean, welcoming environment for guests, school groups, and staff.

Responsibilities include handling POS transactions, assisting with food prep, restocking, and ensuring safety and quality standards. This role requires weekend availability and a team-oriented mindset in a family-friendly setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 16 and a High School diploma or GED in progress.
  • Available to work weekdays and at least one weekend day, some holidays as necessary.

  • Basic culinary knowledge to prepare, assemble, and serve food and beverage orders.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain positive, friendly, and professional in a fast-paced café environment.
  • Ability to learn to use technology, including POS systems and other café-related applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to guests, members, caregivers, children, team members, and visitors.
  • Operate the café POS system accurately and process payments.
  • Prepare and assemble café menu items according to recipes and safety standards.
  • Restock service and prep stations; maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Follow food safety standards including FIFO, labeling, dating, and temperature control.
  • Assist opening/closing procedures and end-of-shift sanitation tasks.
  • Support café operations during events and peak periods.
  • Maintain professional interactions aligned with Amazeum values.

We create a fun environment where risk taking, imagining, problem solving, discovery, collaboration, and exploration bring children and adults together to learn and grow.Core Purpose: The Amazeum exists to spark and nurture the curious and creative spirit in all of us. Through experiences with the Amazeum, individuals and the community are engaged in building relationships and developing identities as creative, curious, and innovative shapers for the region. Learning at the Amazeum is an active, playful exploration that inspires curiosity. It is rooted in inquiry-based discovery and involves an element of risk. Hands-on learning opportunities allow guests to exercise critical thinking in the context of play.The Amazeum facility includes approximately 50,000 square feet of indoor space and one acre of outdoor exhibition and activity space. The museum is located at the intersection of Museum Way and J Street in Bentonville, AR.Position SummaryCafé Associate at the Scott Family Amazeum supports daily operations at Headwaters Café by providing excellent guest service, preparing food and beverages, taking orders through the café point-of-sale system, bussing tables, restocking supplies, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming café environment. Individuals in this position will help create a positive, efficient, family-friendly dining experience for Amazeum guests, members, school groups, caregivers, children, and staff. Cafe Associates rotate between food preparation, cashiering, guest service, cleaning and other cafe support duties throughout scheduled shifts. This position reports to the Café Chef and Manager.Essential FunctionsProvide excellent customer service for guests, members, caregivers, children, team members , and visitors.Warmly welcome café guests, answer questions, and offer guidance on menu items, ordering, pickup, and seatingEffectively operate the café point-of-sale system in accordance with established procedures, entering orders accurately and processing paymentsAccurately process cash, credit card, mobile payment, discount, and gift card transactions as applicablePrepare and assemble café menu items according to approved recipes, portion standards, food safety procedures, and presentation expectationsAssist with breakfast items, grab-and-go items, snacks, handhelds, bowls, kids’ meals, coffee, beverages, and other café offerings as assignedMaintain clean, organized, and stocked food prep, beverage, service, and cashier stations throughout the shiftFollow food safety standards including handwashing, glove use, allergen awareness, proper food storage, labeling, dating, FIFO rotation, and temperature controlMonitor food quality, product levels, and expiration dates; notify a supervisor when items are low, expired, damaged, or not meeting quality standardsClean and sanitize dining areas , bus tables, empty trash, and respond promptly to spills or safety concerns.Restock service supplies and cafe materials as needed. Assist with dishwashing, smallwares cleaning, equipment cleaning, and end-of-shift sanitation tasks as assignedSupport opening and closing procedures, including cleaning checklists, station setup, restocking, and securing food and suppliesAssist with receiving, organizing, and storing food, beverage, paper goods, and café supplies as neededHelp maintain appearance and functionality of café workstations, guest queues, pickup areas, seating areas, and related spacesCommunicate effectively and respectfully with fellow café team members and leadership to support efficient operations and guest satisfactionSupport café operations during school group visits, events, peak attendance periods , and extended operating hours as neededMaintain professional and respectful interactions consistent with Amazeum values and department standardsPerform additional duties as requiredGeneral DutiesThe responsibilities listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.
