Job summary

Ascension Coffee Company is seeking a Café Assistant Manager to support our Café General Manager, Assistant General Manager and Kitchen Manager across all aspects of daily operations. This role is developmental, focused on growth within the brand, quality, teamwork and guest hospitality.

You will help with hiring, training, scheduling, inventory and budgets, while fostering a positive culture and coaching staff to deliver outstanding service and beverages.

Qualifications

• Specialty coffee experience is a plus.
• Reliable transportation, able to travel to all locations.
• Able to work nights and weekends.
• Strong team building skills with clear communication.
• Great organizational skills with problem solving and intuitive resourcefulness.
• High initiative and self-management; willing to take direction.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, about 8 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily café operations alongside GM/AGM/Kitchen Manager.
• Support hiring, training, scheduling, and team leadership.
• Oversee inventory, invoices, payroll, and schedule submission.
• Ensure food safety and high-quality beverages across shifts.

About the role

Our Café Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Café General Manager, Assistant General Manager and Kitchen Manager in all aspects of operations within their café including, but not limited to hiring, training, scheduling, team leadership, inventory management, profit and loss, hospitality, and food safety. This position is considered a developmental role preparing the team member to grow within our brand. This individual must maintain the highest commitment to quality with a demonstrated collaborative approach. The Café Assistant General is responsible for driving financial success through strong team leadership and active coaching. This is an hourly role. This position is not remote.

What you’ll do

• Works alongside GM to achieve all goals related to Sales, COGs, Labor, and Pace.
• Participates in inventory, invoice, payroll, and schedule submission.
• Holds a standard of excellence for all food and beverages sold.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment for team members and guests, ensures all equipment is functioning and in working order, actively uses their resources to find solutions, supports GM with adherence to R&M budget.
• Seeks to continually expand knowledge in hospitality, food trends, and specialty coffee.
• Implements Ascension Coffee standards as directed by Brand Leadership.
• Actively drives sales growth at café level: improved service, clean merchandising, LSM/events.
• Inspires passion and engagement across all teams.
• Coachable: receives and implements feedback quickly
