Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Detroit is seeking an NVH Engineer to analyze and mitigate NVH for complete vehicle and powertrain systems using advanced simulations. You will run NVH simulations with NASTRAN, Abaqus, LMS Virtual.Lab, develop NVH models, evaluate road and wind noise, isolation, and transmissibility, and collaborate with design and powertrain teams.

This role focuses on improving ride quality and customer satisfaction through data-driven recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in NVH simulations for complete vehicle and powertrain systems.
  • Ability to interpret simulation results and provide actionable design recommendations.
  • Strong collaboration with design, powertrain and body engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct NVH simulations for complete vehicle and powertrain systems, identifying and reducing sources of noise and vibration using tools like NASTRAN, Abaqus, and LMS Virtual.Lab.
  • Develop and refine NVH models for vehicle and powertrain components, including detailed analysis of engine vibrations, exhaust noise, and road-induced vibrations.
  • Analyze road noise and wind noise contributions across various speeds and driving conditions, identifying areas for enhancement in body structure, seals, and insulation.
  • Evaluate isolation and transmissibility for powertrain components, focusing on minimizing vibration transfer to the cabin through mounts, bushings, and chassis connections.
  • Collaborate with design, powertrain, and body engineering teams to integrate NVH mitigation strategies across the entire vehicle, addressing specific areas like body-in-white, chassis, and powertrain mounting systems for optimized isolation.
  • Perform virtual testing and validation for NVH performance under diverse driving conditions, including rough road surfaces, high-speed scenarios, and idle states, to evaluate isolation effectiveness and reduce cabin noise levels.
  • Interpret simulation results to enhance specific NVH aspects, such as wind noise, road noise, and powertrain isolation, and provide actionable recommendations for improvements.
  • Correlate simulation models with real-world testing data, refining predictive models for complete vehicle and powertrain NVH behaviors, including airborne noise transmission and vibration transmissibility.
  • Document NVH analysis findings and develop best practices for continuous improvement, focusing on road noise reduction, wind noise management, vibration isolation, and transmissibility reduction across the vehicle and powertrain.
