WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Our Client is seeking a CAE Automation Engineer / Forward Deployed Engineer in 2026 with a CAE background and strong Python and workflow automation skills, to be placed on site in the Midwest (Metro Detroit) and West Coast (Bay Area).
The FDE captures customers' end-to-end CAE workflows, from CAD and pre-processing through simulation, post-processing and design decisions, and turns them into automated, repeatable Engineering AI workflows on the Neural Concept platform. Neural Concept is an AI-native platform that sits on top of the existing engineering stack (CAD, CAE, PLM) and embeds physics-aware AI into design and simulation workflows.
FDEs work directly with customer engineering teams in automotive, aerospace, energy and industrial equipment. They own deployments end to end: mapping how the customer's engineers work today, orchestrating the downstream CAE tools in that chain, and handing over a workflow the customer's engineers can run and evolve themselves. Predictive models are one step within that workflow, not the goal in themselves.
Key responsibilities
- Map customers' end-to-end CAE workflows, from CAD and pre-processing through simulation, post-processing and design review.
- Create agent skills for agentic orchestration of downstream CAE tools such as HyperMesh (HM) and ANSA, automating pre-processing, meshing and setup tasks.
- Define and configure engineering workflows using Design Copilot on the Neural Concept platform.
- Integrate workflows with customer tools (CAD, CAE solvers, PLM, HPC or cloud environments).
- Build Python pipelines that connect each step of the workflow, including preparing simulation data where predictive models are part of the chain.
- Set up design exploration and optimization loops within the workflow, alongside existing CAE tools.
- Validate workflow outputs against simulation and test data, and communicate results and limits clearly.
- Train customer engineers so they can run and extend workflows independently.
- Feed field insights back to Neural Concept product and engineering teams.
- Produce technical documentation, progress reports and results presentations for customers.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in mechanical, aerospace or computational engineering, applied physics, or a related field, plus 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on simulation in at least one domain: CFD, structural FEA, crash, thermal or NVH.
- Working knowledge of at least one solver suite (e.g. Ansys Fluent/Mechanical, STAR-CCM+, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, OpenFOAM, Nastran) and pre/postprocessing (e.g. ANSA, HyperMesh, ParaView).
- Strong, production-quality Python for scripting, tool automation and API integration; clean code with Git.
- Experience automating CAE processes end to end, e.g. scripting pre-processors (HyperMesh, ANSA), batch solver runs and post-processing.
- Comfortable with meshes, point clouds and field data (e.g. VTK, STL, OBJ, solver result formats).
- Experience working directly with technical stakeholders and presenting results.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
- Clear communicator who can explain workflow results to simulation engineers and managers alike.
- Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguous, evolving customer problems.
- Pragmatic: delivers working results quickly, then iterates.
- Collaborative with both customer teams and internal product and R&D teams.
Preferred:
- Experience with LLM agents, tool calling or agent frameworks.
- Design optimization and design of experiments (Bayesian optimization, genetic algorithms, DoE).
- CAD scripting and parametric modeling (e.g. CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, Onshape APIs).
- Familiarity with machine learning in engineering contexts, such as predictive models trained on simulation data.
- Cloud and HPC: Docker, Linux, job schedulers (Slurm), AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Prior consulting, solutions engineering or field application engineering experience.
- Industry exposure in automotive, aerospace, turbomachinery, electronics cooling or energy.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
- Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, HSA and FSA
- 401K with a match and immediate vesting
- Short-term & long-term disability, life insurance
- Employee Assistance Program
- Employee Discounts
- Opportunity to work on industry leading projects
