Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressively responsible CADD experience in civil engineering/infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and strong drafting standards.

Salary Range: $82,000 – $100,000 annually, depending on experience

CADD TECHNICIAN III (10+ YEARS) ROLE

Riley Engineering is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior CADD Technician to lead CAD production efforts and support multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the design and delivery of infrastructure projects. This position serves as a technical resource for CAD standards, production workflows, quality assurance, and staff development while contributing directly to project design and construction document preparation.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, and technical staff to improve efficiency, maintain consistency across deliverables, and ensure high-quality production standards. This role offers an opportunity to shape drafting practices throughout the organization while mentoring the next generation of CADD professionals.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Establish and maintain company CAD standards, templates, drafting procedures, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Oversee CAD quality control processes to ensure consistency and accuracy across project deliverables.
  • Manage CAD software licensing, updates, and related technical resources.
  • Support CAD data management, file organization, project archiving, and document control procedures.
  • Integrate into project design teams throughout all phases of project delivery, from initial planning through final construction documents and project closeout.
  • Assist project teams with workflow optimization, production strategies, and design coordination.
  • Conduct technical reviews of drawings and deliverables to verify compliance with project requirements and company standards.
  • Mentor, train, and support junior CADD technicians, designers, and engineering staff.
  • Assist with resource planning and project workload management to support production schedules and deadlines.
  • Develop civil engineering designs and models using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Prepare and review construction drawings, exhibits, technical figures, and associated project documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership in the application of drafting technologies and production best practices.
  • Support ongoing employee training and professional development efforts related to CAD software, standards, and workflows.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, surveyors, and other technical professionals to develop project deliverables.
  • Participate in field activities including site reconnaissance, utility investigations, and construction inspections when necessary.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality across all drafting and design activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent training in Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, CADD, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible CADD experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, municipal, or related industries.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing complex construction plans and engineering deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of drafting standards, quality control procedures, and project workflows and Sheet Set Manager (SSM).
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and mentoring skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience managing CAD standards and company-wide drafting practices.
  • Experience with CAD license administration and software deployment.
  • Knowledge of water, wastewater, drainage, transportation, and site development projects.
  • Experience with GIS integration, survey data processing, and digital project delivery workflows.
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring technical staff.
