Job summary

Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled CAD technician to perform CADD drafting and design work using Open Roads Designer and related software, preparing construction plans with accurate alignments, profiles, cross-sections and super elevations. You will gather data, ensure compliance with MnDOT data and design standards, and support quantity estimation.

At least one year of CADD experience is required; a two-year Civil or Construction Technology degree or a four-year

• One year of experience utilizing computer-aided drafting and designing (CADD) or related activities.
• A Two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience.

Job description

This position Completes computer-aided drafting and designing (CADD) functions and calculations and applies Open Roads Designer and other software programsused to perform technical detail designing and drafting of plans and preliminary layouts. Some of the other duties include:

• Gathers data from other functional areas and follows standards for drafting construction plan(s) and reviews to ensure compliance with CADD data standards and MnDOT’s design standards.
• Creates /revises alignments, profiles, cross-sections and super elevations for construction plans.
• Computes estimated quantities and pay items for construction plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of experience utilizing computer-aided drafting and designing (CADD) or related activities;

A Two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience.
