Job summary

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is seeking a drafter/designer to join our power engineering team in Oregon. The role focuses on electrical and physical drafting for substations and renewable energy projects from 4 kV to 500 kV, using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

You will prepare single-line diagrams, wiring schematics and layouts, as well as BOMs with Excel-based quantity tracking. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of drafting/design experience in PV, wind, BESS, or substations, and strong

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete drawings of PV or BESS layouts, including sections, details and profiles.
• Create electrical single lines, wiring diagrams and auxiliary power layouts.
• Develop project drawings from prelim. layouts and alternatives.
• Prepare BOMs and quantify lengths, parts and pieces using Excel tools.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge growth through collaboration with engineering teams.
• Assist in training less-experienced drafters and designers.

Job description

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI), a leading power engineering consultant firm, is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a drafter/designer. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical and physical drafting and design work for electrical substations and renewable energy projects ranging from 4 kV to 500 kV.

The successful candidate will perform drafting in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation related to electrical substations and renewable energy facilities. Controls design will involve preparation of drawings to include mapping layouts, general arrangements, and one-line, three-line, DC schematics, wiring diagrams and such like.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Preparing complete drawings of utility scale BESS or PV layouts, facilities or general arrangements including section and detail views and profiles in a manner to provide clear and concise representation of facilities.
• Preparing electrical single lines, aux power, SCADA wiring drawings.
• Preparation of project drawings through preliminary selection of alternatives, layouts and arrangements.
• Preparation of BOMs and using excel tools to quantify lengths, parts and pieces, etc
• Demonstrating personal development of technical knowledge through interface with the engineering departments in the execution and review of project assignments.
• Assisting in the training and advancement of skills for other, less -experienced designing and drafting department personnel.

Minimum Requirements: 2+ years' of experience drafting and/or designing electrical PV facilities, Wind facilities, BESS yards or substations, including schematics, wiring diagrams, physical layout and facility design required. Must have proven effective verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate must be results oriented and capable of completing design assignments with minimal direction and must be effective in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to interface with team members and clients. This position requires a strong work ethic with attention to detail, quality, schedule and budget. Occasional travel/driving may be required.
